The planet Jupiter has been known since ancient times. It's visible to the naked eye in the night sky, and can occasionally be seen in the daytime when the Sun is low. In Germanic mythology, Jupiter is equated to Thor, where we get the name for Thursday. Zeus is the sky and thunder god in ancient Greek religion, and was known as Amon to the Egyptians.
